Gwinnett County Parks and Recreation received top honors Oct. 23 for Vines Park, a 79-acre park at 3500 Oak Grove Road in Loganville. The Professional Grounds Management Society recognized Vines Park with an Honor Award in the Society’s 2015 Green Star Awards competition for exceptional grounds maintenance.

The Green Star Awards program brings national recognition to grounds maintained with a high degree of excellence, complimenting other national landscape award programs that recognize outstanding landscape design and construction.

Vines Park is a passive park that was recently renovated with the 2005 SPLOST program. Renovation work included replacement of the old pavilion with a new one closer to the lake, replacement of the trail/walkway around the lake, the removal of old wooden structures and bridges that existed on the original residential property, the addition of a new lake overlook and bridge, landscaping, stabilization of the rose garden columns and statuary and other safety improvements.
