Lawrenceville residents won’t see election signs on street corners this fall. For the second time in just three years, Lawrenceville candidates are running unopposed. Mayor Judy Jordan Johnson and council members Tony Powell (Post 2) and David Still (Post 1) have no opposition for the November election. As a result, city elections were cancelled and results certified at Monday night’s city council meeting.
Lawrenceville residents are still encouraged to turn out at Gwinnett County election sites on Nov. 3 to cast their ballots regarding an educational SPLOST referendum.
The last time candidates ran without opposition in Lawrenceville was in 2012.
