Two campgrounds on Lake Lanier will remain open through the winter, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has announced.

The Corps, which created and operates Lake Lanier, announced recently the decision for Sawnee Campground in Forsyth County and Bolding Mill Campground in Hall County. Campgrounds at Duckett Mill and Van Pugh South will close Sept. 18, and at Bald Ridge and Old Federal on Oct. 23.

“We receive many requests this time of the year to extend the camping season in our popular campgrounds,” the Corps said. “If you truly want to have campgrounds open earlier or later, you must show interest this season by reserving online for September/October now. We will be determining next year’s schedule in the coming month.”
