Kennesaw residents will be paying $2.12 more per home per month for their sanitation service which means an annual increase of $25.44.

That decision was made by a 5-0 vote on July 15 by the Kennesaw City Council.

Since 2013, the city of Kennesaw has had a sanitation collection service agreement with Republic Services.

The increase takes into account the allowable consumer price index increase and the new Georgia House Bill 792 host fee.

The present fee has been $14.46 per home per month, but the new fee will be $16.58 per home per month.

However, for the next five years, the fee will be capped at five percent per year, according to a separate 5-0 vote by the City Council.
