Kennesaw has a new public works director.

Richard Stewart will oversee maintenance and repair of the city’s infrastructure (streets, curbs, gutters and rights-of-way), cemetery operations, stormwater utility management, environmental services, supervision of trash collection and recycling services, fleet maintenance and capital project management.

Stewart has served as the operations manager of Ellijay/Gilmer County Water and Sewage Authority, public works director of Dahlonega and superintendent of public works for North Augusta, South Carolina.

He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Southern Polytechnic State University.
