The Henry County Zoning Advisory Board voted at its March 28 meeting to deny conditional use and variance requests for a Sewell Road resident wanting to establish a non-commercial kennel.

The applicant said he understand the requirement for a conditional use since he had more than four dogs, and he was at 10-animal limit for a non-commercial kennel. He acknowledged that he would be breeding them and he had already sold a few. A large number of neighbors came out in opposition. One stated that the applicant had already received warnings from code enforcement and animal control officers, and that neighborhood covenants expressly prohibit kennels.

The conditional use request was denied, after which the requested variance to reduce minimum road frontage was deemed moot and also denied with little or no added discussion.
