A proposed rezoning for 22 acres at the southeast corner of Hwy. 155 and Kelleytown Road is on hold.

The planned change for a mixed use development consisting of a grocery anchored shopping center, ancillary shops, and outparcels required a change in the county’s future land use map from rural residential to mixed use, and that was denied by the Henry County Board of Commissioners at its Feb. 18 regular meeting. Only Vivian Thomas, in whose district the property lies, voted in favor of changing the map designation. The subsequent rezoning applicant was then tabled by Thomas.

A large number of local residents came out in opposition to the plan.
