Judge jails assistant D.A. for contempt

Fulton County Superior Court Judge Marvin Arrington has jailed an assistant district attorney for failing to pay a fine for a contempt citation issued in October.

Arrington also has threatened her boss, District Attorney Paul Howard, with jail time unless he can give him a reason not to hold the prosecutor in contempt.

Linda Dunikoski was cited for contempt in an Oct. 6 trial in which she continued to argue points after Arrington had ruled on them, according to Arrington. The citation required her to pay a $100 fine to a charity of her choice within 30 days.

In court today on another matter, Dunikoski told the judge she had not paid the fine at the direction of Howard.

After Arrington's decision, Howard confronted the judge at the courthouse.
