Fourteen men and women will graduate from the Jobs Not Jail diversion program managed by the Office of the DeKalb County Solicitor-General at 9 a.m. Friday at the DeKalb County Courthouse, 556 North McDonough St. Courtroom 1200C, Decatur. The Jobs Not Jail Program gives misdemeanor offenders -- with little to no criminal history, between the ages of 17 and 24 -- a second chance. Through the year-long program, defendants undergo counseling, complete education, job training and community service requisites, and have the opportunity to see their criminal case dismissed and expunged. The goal is to break the cycle of recidivism and help particular individuals complete their education, find jobs, and become assets to the community.
