The shell of the burned-out Holiday Inn in Marietta will be replaced by a Home2Suites Hotel by Hilton.

The Marietta City Council agreed 7-0 recently to allow this development at 2168 Kingston Court off I-75.

With rooms ranging from $115 to $120 per night, the Hilton hotel primarily will be an extended-stay hotel, said Garvis Sams, attorney for the applicant Krishan Patel of Marietta Hotel Investments (Holiday Inn).

Of the 148 rooms, 122 would be extended-stay suites with kitchens but 26 would be regular rooms in the seven-story hotel, Sams said.

The shell of the former Holiday Inn, which is “in excellent shape,” will be used, he added.

However, no one can claim this Hilton hotel as their residence, according to one of the stipulations approved by the City Council.

City Manager Bill Bruton said city officials meet with Marietta City Schools officials every six months to inform them of new development and extended-stay hotels and “to avoid school bus stops” at those hotels.
