The Henry County Board of Education approved a $384,267,377 budget for the 2019 fiscal year that is an increase from the current $360 million budget and officials said is balanced without using cash reserves.

The total is based on a projected 7-percent growth in the tax digest. Among other things it includes step increases and $500 pay supplements for eligible employees, $13 million in health insurance funding for classified employees and an increase from 16.81 to 20.90 in contributions to the Teachers Retirement System. Officials said the new budget, which includes transportation funding for middle and high school athletic teams, was create with no state funding for technology or safety/security and minimal state funding for transportation.
