The Henry County Board of Commissioners is relocating Henry County Water Authority utilities at Hwy. 20 and East Lake Road so work on intersection improvements there can proceed.
The board voted at its Sept. 1 meeting to allocate $143,131.68 in addition to what is already budgeted for the project, moving the funds from two other projects slated for later completion.
The HCWA has a 24-inch sewer force main at that location that handles about two million gallons of water a day, as well as 8-inch and 24-inch water mains at the intersection. Construction on the intersection project has slowed for fear of damaging those lines.
Other utilities are also being moved for this project.
