A 45-day rabies alert has been issued for two separate locations in Henry County – a half-mile area around Melrose Way near Wellington Drive and Lake Dow Road in McDonough, and a half-mile area around the 100 block of Morning View Lane in Hampton.

In both cases animal control officials were contacted about a raccoon that was killed by a dog, and the Georgia Public Health Laboratory conducted rabies tests which returned positive.
