The Henry County Board of Commissioners voted at its Feb. 17 regular meeting to approve more than $3.8 million in budget amendments for the purchase of equipment for various county departments.

The shopping list included 27 Dodge Chargers for the police department (the first non-SPLOST vehicle purchase by police in six years), as well as dump trucks and and excavator for public works and pickup trucks for code enforcement, animal control and the fire department. The total funds also included about $2 million for the police and fire departments to solicit bids to outfit certain vehicles and equipment.
