The Henry County Board of Commissioners voted June 19 to accept a $214,256.50 grant from the state’s Criminal Justice Coordinating Council on behalf of the Henry County Adult Felony Drug Court.

The court’s purpose is to decrease incarceration days and improve treatment outcomes for participants with higher-risk substance addictions, saving the county in court and jail costs as well as community support costs while increasing taxable income through employment requirements for participants. The CJCC grant requires a $110,500 match to be met with Drug Abuse Treatment and Education funds.

The money will be used for salaries, contract services, drug screens, and travel related to training.
