The Henry County Board of Commissioners voted at its June 9 workshop meeting to approve a resolution to move forward with a transportation SPLOST, or TSPLOST, to address transportation needs only.

The resolution also specified that board chair June Wood would serve as liaison with the county’s four cities on the matter. By law an intergovernmental agreement with the cities is needed to collect a full one-cent sales tax; otherwise it cannot exceed 0.75 cents on the dollar.

Several steps have to be completed within only a few months to get the referendum on the November ballot, including the creation of a transportation project list as well as the development and approval of the intergovernmental agreements.
