The Henry County Board of Commissioners voted at its May 7 regular meeting to approve a memorandum regarding a public-private partnership that could lead to the development of a convention center and arena in Stockbridge.

Developers wanting to build a large mixed-use site next to I-75 and I-675 have agreed to donate 80 acres of land to the county for the facilities as well as park and buffer space. The initial agreement directs the developers to commission a $100,000 feasibility study for the convention center and arena. The county has not officially committed to the project and has no financial stake as of now.

Should the study produce a favorable finding, the county could still back out but would have to reimburse the cost of the study.
