The Henry County Zoning Advisory Board voted at its May 28 regular meeting to grant a variance from front-yard setback requirements for a 3.4-acre piece of property on Crumbley Road. The applicant, who has a very large family, wants to add on to the existing home that was built in 1866, long before any such requirements were established.

The current setback is just over 40 feet, which was the distance of the variance request, and the county code calls for at least 75 feet. While the structure is legal as it stands, any addition would require bringing it into compliance. The house is not on any historic registry, according to the owner.
