Gwinnett Commissioners recently renewed an annual contract for the purchase of gas-powered hydraulic extrication tools with High Tech Rescue, Inc. The $156,592 contract will replace four complete sets of gas-powered hydraulic extrication equipment used by the Gwinnett Fire and Emergency Services during the contract period beginning April 20, 2020 through April 19, 2021.

Often referred to as the “Jaws of Life,” hydraulic extrication tools are used by emergency personnel to assist with the rescue of automobile crash victims, as well as rescue of individuals trapped in other small spaces.

While not necessarily the lowest priced bidder, this contract was awarded to the highest scoring firm based on the following criteria: tool compliance, specification compliance, competitive advantages, warranty, questionnaire, references and cost.
