Grease clogged a sewer main Thursday afternoon on Stewart Lake Court near Lithonia, dumping 36,750 gallons of raw sewage into Pole Bridge Creek.

DeKalb County crews were able to stop the overflow by turning off the water and pressure washing the sewage main, then replacing the manhole cover.

The county plans a $1.35 billion overhaul of its water/sewer system to meet a federal consent decree to prevent such spills in the future.
