Lilburn recently received notification of Google Fiber as an approved franchisee of the state of Georgia along with a request to establish a franchise fee resolution. Establishing a franchise fee will pave the way for Google Fiber to locate within Lilburn city limits.

The Lilburn City Council voted Monday to approve a franchise fee agreement in the amount of 5 percent, which is standard for all cable providers. Google Fiber has not made a specific location request to the city at this time.
