College Park’s Ward III Councilman Tracey Wyatt recently hosted a community meeting to update stakeholders on road widening of the Godby Road corridor. Members of Clayton County’s Department of Transportation attended, offering information outlining the timeline, specific plans and updates.

In addition to the road widening, there were community updates on the new fire station currently under construction on West Fayetteville Road. Chief Wade Elmore stated that the work is now in finalization phase, as most of the construction has been completed. Paving, gutters and some technical landscaping remain, but crews are performing those tasks on a daily basis. Elmore expects the station will be open for business in late December or early January.

College Park Police Chief Keith Meadows also announced that a new precinct is to be constructed next to the Tracey Wyatt Recreation Complex. Chief Meadows expanded his discussion to summarize the coordination of crime reduction efforts along the corridor, including the refurbishing of an apartment complex on Godby. Meadows envisions a more vibrant Godby Road community, along with newer business attractions, once the public safety plans are finalized.
