Fulton County seeks future leaders
The Fulton County Aging and Youth Services Department, Office of Children and Youth is seeking high school students in search of leadership roles to apply to serve as Youth Commissioners. These young leaders address the many issues presently facing youth through government mandates, policies and legislation. Youth Commissioners become familiar with how local government resolves youth issues. They suggest solutions for issues facing youth, but most importantly, they help facilitate change.
Youth Commissioners who are accepted into the program will be expected to carry out the following responsibilities:
• Impact policies and legislation
• Interact with politicians on the local and state level
• Speak out on behalf of ALL Fulton County youth
• Help local government better understand the issues facing youth
• Plan community events and participate in volunteer projects

Variety of volunteer positions at library
Northeast/Spruill Oaks Branch of the Atlanta-Fulton Public Library System is looking for volunteers to help with a variety of jobs such as children’s program aide, computer lab specialist, computer lab trainer/workshop presenter, ESL (English as a second language) coach, homework help assistance, job search coach, library clerical aide, library user survey assistant, literacy tutor, math tutor, book shelver and Spanish language teachers.
Orientations for adults (15 and up) and youngsters (ages 12-15. Parent must attend first 10 minutes; 12-year-olds must be accompanied by adult) are taking place through May.
When: Adult: Wednesdays, 4:30-5:30 p.m. Ages 15 and older; Young: Thursdays, 4:30-5:45 p.m. May 5 and 26.
