Help maintain Chastain Park

At Chastain Park Conservancy volunteers are an integral part of achieving the mission to restore, enchance, maintain and preserve Chastain Park. Chastain Park has flourished, partly due to the volunteerism of individuals and groups that assist each year. Volunteers play a key role in maintaining the safety and accessibility of the park by performing a number of activities including planting, landscaping, pruning, maintaining footpaths, clearing brush as well as assisting with fundraising, special events and administrative tasks.

Projects for the First Saturday Volunteer Program include the following tasks:

  • Reverse stream bank erosion
  • Restore stream banks with plantings and natural materials
  • Remove debris from stream
  • Remove fallen trees
  • Restore and clean grills
  • Stain wooden picnic tables, benches, signage and swings
  • Plant native varieties (ferns, azaleas, rhododendrons, mountain laurel, sweet shrubs)
