Georgia State University and Southern Polytechnic State University both selected new deans to lead their respective colleges of arts and sciences.

Georgia State announced Wednesday that William Long, chairman and professor of international affairs at Georgia Tech's Sam Nunn School of International Affairs, will start as dean Aug. 8.

Southern Poly's new dean, Thomas Nelson, a biology professor and department head at North Georgia College & State University, will start July 1.
