Fulton County offers free criminal records restriction on Veterans Day

Faith leaders, government and nonprofits partner to give those with criminal record a new life with a Veterans Day record restriction summit and job fair that will offer free record restrictions for nonviolent misdemeanors and career opportunity. CONTRIBUTED

The deadline has been extended for people who have been arrested in Fulton County to apply to have their criminal records restricted free of charge on Veteran’s Day. People charged with a non-violent misdemeanors and no conviction can apply online to have their records restricted at www.fultoncountyga.gov/recordrestriction. The deadline is now Nov. 4, according to a press release.

This Veterans Day, Monday, November 11th, religious leaders, local government, and key non profit organizations will come together to put on a Record Restriction Summit hosted at The Temple, 1589 Peachtree St NW, Atlanta. This single day event from noon to 4 p.m. is for people who have been arrested in Fulton County and charged with a non-violent misdemeanor and no conviction. It will offer participants the opportunity to pursue getting their records restricted free of charge.

A Job Fair will also be part of this year’s Record Restriction Summit. Organizations offering career resources as well as businesses accepting applications will participate.

The Veterans Day Record Restriction Summit is sponsored by: The Temple Rothschild Social Justice Institute, the Fulton County Solicitor’s office, the Georgia Justice Project, and the Veterans Empowerment Organization.

It is in partnership with All Saints Episcopal Church, Cascade United Methodist Church, Ebenezer Baptist Church, First Presbyterian Church, Fulton County State Court, and the Inner City Muslim Action Network.
