In the general election held in East Point on Nov. 3, four council seats are open for running. Residents who want to qualify as a candidate can apply in person at the East Point City Clerk’s office, 1526 East Forrest Ave., fourth floor. Qualifying takes place between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., beginning on Monday, Aug. 31, ending on Wednesday, Sept. 2; The office closes from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. for lunch. The qualifying fee for the position of council member is $330. There are eight council positions in the city, four representing Wards A, B, C, and D, and four at large or citywide council representatives.
