Forsyth County school officials are seeking parental and community input on the district’s Federal Programs’ Comprehensive Local Education Agency Improvement Plan and District Parent and Family Engagement Policy. Three meetings have been set for later this month.

According to records, the LEA plan is designed to spell out gaps and needs within the district and lay out goals and a continuing plan for addressing those issues. The engagement policy is aimed at ensuring regular, two-way and meaningful communication so that parents play an active and full-partnership role in their child’s education.

Three FY 2018 meetings on federal programs are set, two of them at 11 a.m. July 13 at South Forsyth High School, 585 Peachtree Parkway and at 6 p.m. the same day at North Forsyth High School, 3635 Coal Mountain Drive. The third hearing will happen at 6 p.m. July 14 at the central school district offices, 1120 Dahlonega Highway, room 380.

Proposed plans for the 2017-18 school year are set to be submitted to the Georgia Department of Education on July 31.
