Sandy Springs will hold its first event in the new City Springs center in June 2018.

City Springs isn’t set to open until August 2018, but Sandy Springs is already booking events for the mixed-use downtown complex.

The first event booked for the City Springs Performing Arts Center comes from the city's mayor, Rusty Paul. The the theatre in the center — which was recently named the Byers Theatre for a benefactor who donated $2.5 million — will host Sandy Springs' annual "State of the City" address on June 26, 2018.

The theatre will also serve as the new home for bi-weekly council meetings when it opens.

“City Springs was envisioned by our residents as a place to gather, enjoy fellowship, and as a home for the city’s stewardship,” Paul said in a statement. “It is fitting that our first booked event for the studio theatre focuses on the what’s ahead for the City of Sandy Springs.”

The 350-seat studio theater is a 5,000-square foot flexible space that can be configured to serve as a meeting space, a venue for small performances or a location for corporate meetings and banquet-style events.

The State of the City address is open to the public. The event includes a luncheon, and reservations are required. To reserve seats, contact the Sandy Springs Perimeter Chamber office at 678-443-2990 or visit www.sspchamber.org.
