The Forsyth County Fire Department got a little more than they asked for during a "Give Burns the Boot" fundraiser.

Now, they hope to give it back.

A man's wedding band was discovered by Station 10 firefighters on May 14. The firefighters were collecting donations at the intersection of Windermere Parkway and Old Atlanta Road.

The "Give Burns the Boot" fundraiser raises about $25,000 each year, said Kevin Wallace, fire chief for Forsyth County

"We get a lot of [strange] things," Wallace said. "A lot of people will dump their entire ashtray [full of change and other items] into the boots."

The fire department is reaching out to public and media outlets to try and find the owner of the ring. However, they are not releasing details about the ring because the owner will have to describe it.

"Whoever put it there wants it back," Wallace said.

So far, the fire department has received a couple of phone calls regarding the ring, but have not found the owner.

Anyone who believes this ring belongs to them should contact Forsyth County Fire Department.
