A $449,365 construction bid for fencing work at the Henry County Airport in Hampton was approved March 5 by a vote of the Henry County Board of Commissioners.

Officials stated that the installing of new fencing and the upgrade of the current fence is necessary for security and deer control. The fence was designed in three phases, and the first phase encompasses 19,300 linear feet of 8-foot-high chain link with three strands of barbed wire.

The construction job is eligible for 90 percent federal reimbursement and 5 percent state reimbursement, which means the final cost to the county adds up to $22,468.25.
