Fayette County has opted not to establish a formal policy regarding financial support of local nonprofit groups, pending further discussion. The Board of Commissioners tabled a proposal at its Nov. 9 meeting, during which County Administrator Steve Rapson recommended that no such policy be made.

The proposal had been suggested during the commission’s 2018 budget retreat after several nonprofits made requests for supplemental funding earlier this year, some of which were granted and others were not. Representatives from local nonprofits asked the board to talk further with community service providers and look at similar policies in other jurisdictions before making a final decision.
