The Fayette and Henry Schools districts are among a handful of southside school systems looking for professionals from fields outside education who are interested in becoming teachers.
The south metro school systems will join others from Butts, Lamar, Newton, Pike, Griffin-Spalding and Thomaston-Upson in a 6 p.m. Dec. 12 information session on switching to the teaching profession at the Griffin Regional Educational Service Agency in Griffin.
The event is a program of the Georgia Teacher Academy for Preparation and Pedagogy. The academy seeks to attract college graduates with a bachelor’s degree or higher in professions other than education who are considering a teaching career.
The meeting will include teaching opportunities for the rest of the 2019-2020 school year and for 2020-2021. For information, send emails to TAPP@griffinresa.net.
