Fayette County held the first of its two required public hearings for the FY2019 budget during the Board of Commissioners meeting on June 14.
The proposed $93 million budget contains no property tax increase and includes a millage rollback for the sixth consecutive year. The General Fund Balance will increase by $540,250, and just over $6.3 million will be allocated for a five-year Capital Improvement Program. The budget will also include funding for performance-based pay increases for employees, and will maintain funding for employee medical and retirement benefits. The commissioners still need to decide whether to allocate funding for nonprofits that provide social services.
The final hearing will be held at 7 p.m. on June 28 before the board votes on the budget adoption.
