The city of East Point is hosting three meetings this month to inform Fulton County residents of the November vote for a Transportation Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax. A T-SPLOST is a taxing option specifically intended to raise funds for transportation needs, such as repairs, maintenance and upgrades to roads, bridges, sidewalks and traffic signals.

The first meeting took place on Wednesday night, and another meeting is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. May 11, at Jefferson Park Recreation Center, 1431 Norman Berry Drive. A meeting is also scheduled for 6:30 p.m. May 17 at Asa G. Hilliard Elementary School, 3353 Mt. Olive Road.

The measure to approve the T-SPLOST will be placed on the voting ballots on November 8, for which residents of Fulton County will decide on whether to use a tax of .75 cent to fund transportation related repairs. Local governments have until May 30 to produce their list of projects to be funded.
