The city of East Point is giving people the opportunity to clear their arrest record for non-violent crimes committed in the City through the city’s Expungement Fair and Job Fair 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 19 and Friday, June 1, according to a press release. This fair will be held at the Law Enforcement Center, 2727 East Point St.
Councilwoman Sharon Shropshire and Solicitor General Antavius Weems are spearheading this effort to give people who were arrested for misdemeanors, but not convicted, the chance to clear their arrests and minor charges from their record. “Expunging their record may break down barriers they encounter when trying to gain employment or housing,” said Councilwoman Sharon Shropshire. “We are encouraging residents to take full advantage of this opportunity.”
To qualify, applicants must:
• Provide Valid US Government Issued Photo Identification
• Arrest(s) must have been made within the City of East Point
