The Dunwoody Police Department announced Friday that the city was awarded the 2017 Car Seat Mini-Grant by the Georgia Department of Public Health and Injury Prevention Program. The Dunwoody Police Department and the DeKalb County Fire Rescue Department work together on the state program to provide car seats and education to financially eligible families in DeKalb County with help funded by the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety. Since 2007 the education, car and booster seats provided through the grant saved over 300 children involved in crashes. The Dunwoody Police Department and DeKalb County Fire Rescue Department educate parents and caregivers on how to properly install and use car seats, offer car seat inspections and provide car seats and booster seats.
