Several construction projects in Dunwoody are taking place this summer.
The 2015 budget includes funding for progress on the city’s paving plan with sidewalk improvements. The newly completed sidewalks on Hensley Drive provide a walking route to Vanderlyn Elementary School for homes in the Vernon Ridge subdivision and connecting neighborhoods.
The recently finished sidewalk project along Mount Vernon Way, on the west side of the road from Mount Vernon Road to Withmere Way, is to provide residents with a safe route to Dunwoody Village and a pedestrian connectivity within the community.
Construction crews will be working at the crosswalk for Tilly Mill at Stonington Avenue near the border of Dunwoody and Doraville. The improvement project is designed to increase pedestrian safety, through the installation of a concrete sidewalk. The project will also include the addition of ADA-compliant curb ramps along with rapid flashing beacons situated on either side of the crosswalk to alert drivers in both directions of a pedestrian entering the roadway.
Intersection crosswalk repairs in the Perimeter area began last week and will continue through the next two months. Crews will replace concrete crosswalks with asphalt. All construction work will occur overnnight 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. from Sunday to Thursday.
The work will be conducted at the following intersections: Perimeter Center Parkway at the MARTA entrance; Ashford Dunwoody at Hammond Drive; Ashford Dunwoody at Ravinia; Ashford Dunwoody at Perimeter Center West; and Ashford Dunwoody at Meadow Lane.
