The Duluth City Council recently approved a contract not to exceed $53,032 for improvements to East Whippoorwill Drive. Various attempts at repairs have been made over the years to address poor drainage that is causing the existing road to fail and cause property damage. The planned improvements should permanently repair the area.

Improvements will include slightly raising the centerline of the road, adjusting the cross slope of the road to force water in the needed direction, removal of berm preventing proper drainage, minor widening of a section of the road, and then paving of that section.

Seven companies were represented at a mandatory pre-bid conference. The city has chosen to contract with the lowest qualified bidder, Lori’s Transportation and Excavation, LLC.

Funds will come from 2017 SPLOST.
