June has been good for Georgia lottery winners.
Four people have won big bucks so far — including one lucky player who took home a million dollars.
Eric Millen of Duluth won $1 million playing the Monopoly Millionaire instant game. He bought his ticket at the QuickTrip on South Marietta Parkway in Marietta on June 12.
“I was on break from work when I stopped,” Millen, 44, told Georgia Lottery officials. “I picked up a Slim Jim, a 5-hour ENERGY and a ticket. It was the only one I could see, and it was shiny.”
Millen said he’s planning to buy a new car and save for his daughter’s college fund with his winnings.
Ruth Rice of Decatur celebrated her 62 birthday by winning the $467,000 Fantasy 5 jackpot. She bought her ticket at the BP Food Mart on Flat Shoals Parkway in Decatur.
She told lottery officials she was laughing hysterically when she saw that she had matched all five numbers.
“We don’t know what we’re going to do. We’ll take it day-by-day,” she said, referring to her and her family. “We’re just engrossed in being able to win this prize.”
Ella Owens of Atlanta won $377,000 playing the instant game Silver 7’s. She bought the ticket at the MLK Shell station located on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive.
Dennis Carlisle of Stone Mountain won $278,000 in the June 5 Fantasy 5 drawing.
He bought the ticket at Three Brothers Food Mart on Wellborn Road in Lithonia.
“I was very much surprised,” Carlisle, 55, told lottery officials. “I had to get my son. He looked at it, and I checked it again.”
Carlisle, the father of six, said he is going to pay off bills and set some of the money aside.
