Duluth’s Mayor and City Council have selected a lighting layout for the George Rogers Avenue Corridor. At the city’s most recent council meeting, the City Council voted to approve the street lighting design using 143W fixtures.

The city evaluated layouts and costs for alternate wattages. The 92W fixtures cost $13.59 per fixture per month; the seven fixtures needed will cost $95.13 per month. The 143W fixture is $18.03 per fixture per month; the seven fixtures needed for the design plan will cost $126.21 per month. While they cost more, the city felt the 143W fixtures will provide more coverage and increased safety for perdestrians.

Duluth will move forward with a contract with Georgia Power to install the lights as proposed.
