Following a final public hearing on the matter Monday, the Duluth city council agreed to amend the city’s Unified Development Code. City Planner Rich Atkinson has been working with the city for almost one year to clarify and interpret any conflicts to make the UDC a more user-friendly document.

The revisions include changes regarding density, non-conforming uses, definitions like the word “yard”, architectural guidelines, alcohol beverage sales, outdoor vending, parking, landscape buffers and more.

One of the most significant changes defines density of 15 units per acre and parcel in urban areas and three units per acre in suburban areas.
