The Georgia Alliance to End Homelessness has honored the chief executive of a Duluth-based transitional housing community for homeless families and children.

Nancy Yancey, CEO of Rainbow Village Inc., received the alliance’s 2011 Essential Piece Award. The award recognizes someone who models service, collaboration and leadership in the mission to end homelessness.

“Nancy is long overdue to receive recognition for what she has given to the families at Rainbow Village,” said Lynette Ward, the village’s director of adult programs. “She is not just the CEO; she is the heart of Rainbow Village.”
