The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office is registering participants for the next Citizens’ Law Enforcement Academy.

Beginning with dinner at 6 p.m., the free classes start at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 20 to April 14 at the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, 8470 Earl D. Lee Blvd., second floor, Douglasville.

Participants are asked to attend all 12 weeks.

The goal is not to teach participants how to become law enforcement officers or pressure them into a career in law enforcement but to give them insight into the officers’ duties and responsibilities.

Applicants must be a resident or business owner in Douglas County, at least 21 years of age and give consent for a background check as a part of the application process.
