The 2020 U.S. Census is almost here!

Invitations for Doraville residents to participate in the most important count in 10 years will begin arriving by mail on Thursday, March 12, and continue for about a week, according to a press release. The city is partnering with the Center for Pan Asian Community Services and Georgia Association of Latino Elected Officials in its complete count effort.

Why does it matter? DeKalb County receives $2,314 in federal funds for each person counted. That money is used to build new parks, schools, hospitals and roads. A complete count of city residents will result in the funding to which the city us entitled.

Responses to the Census can be completed in one of four ways: online, by phone, by paper form or in

person at one of the county’s locations. Households that do not respond by Wednesday, April 1, will receive follow-up contact from the Census Bureau.
