An exceptionally narrow zoning was placed on a Jodeco Road site by the Henry County Board of Commissioners after a request to locate what was repeatedly called a “quasi-medical” business there.

The half-acre tract just west of Tunis Road had zoning conditions in place limiting it to a furniture store or an antique store. The business proposing to open there would specialize in removal of hair and tattoos by laser, and all of its staff would have the appropriate state licensing and board certifications. Commissioner Vivian Thomas made a motion that the site be zoned so that only “traditional medical services” can locate there, which the applicant pointed out would be the first zoning of its kind in the county. Her motion passed with a 4-2 vote, with Gary Barham and Johnny Wilson voting against it.
