DeKalb County Extension is planning to expand the mobile farmers market’s route. It seeks community partners such as religious institutions, non-profit organizations, clinics, community centers and neighborhood associations, particularly those in south DeKalb County.

The mobile market carries fresh, affordable fruits and vegetables. “I am really excited to see something like this in the community,” stated a senior who resides at Spring Chase II, a market location. Other stops include Midway Recreation Center, Bethesda Cathedral Church, Hairston Lake Apartments, and Hamilton Recreation Center.

“We needed a convenient way to reach people that don’t have easy access to healthy foods,” said Jessica Hill, County Extension Coordinator. DeKalb County Extension recently added a Friday morning stop just outside its doors at 4380 Memorial Drive.

The mobile farmers market initiative is sponsored by DeKalb County Extension with assistance from DeKalb County Government and DeKalb County Board of Health.
