Powder Springs may allow archery hunting for deer.

A final decision is expected during the 7 p.m. Sept. 19 meeting of the City Council.

Bow hunting only would be allowed during the hunting season authorized by the Georgia Department of Natural Resources.

Also, bow hunting would take place only on property owned by the city on Dallas Powder Springs Road in the designated wetlands area.

This area would be open to people possessing both a valid Georgia hunting license and a valid city permit.

Application for these hunting privileges would need to be made to the Powder Springs Police Department.
