Beginning this week Atlanta Gas Light is retiring sections of pipeline under Decatur streets. The work is expected to last up to one month and require temporary lane closures.

There is currently no gas in the old pipeline — it was replaced with a new pipeline last year — but it must be filled with concrete or grouted.

Grouting will occur on East College Avenue and on Sycamore Drive near the intersection of Grove Street, past Fairview Street and before Bridlewood Circle. Grout points are dug up approximately every 1,000 to 1,500 feet and excavation sites are about 25 feet long and the width of a traffic lane.

Work will take place during daylight hours Monday through Saturday.
