Decatur has named Angela Threadgill as interim city planner, a temporary replacement for Planning Director Amanda Thompson whose last day was Aug. 14.
Thompson, who had been on staff 11 years and planning director since 2007, resigned to take a job in Miami. Threadgill had previously worked several months as part-time historic preservation planner, replacing Regina Brewer.
After 13 years Senior Engineer John Madajewski announced his retirement several weeks ago, with his last day Friday. The city isn’t going to rush filling the two key positions.
“We have not begun the formal recruiting process [for either],” said City Manager Peggy Merriss. “We don’t have a deadline established at this point.”
